Danish Perch

Return To Home

Numb fingers and ankle deep mud on a bit of a jaunt to catch some of the lovely brackish-water Perch of the rivers around Copenhagen with my buddies Johnny & Kim. They didn't disappoint...

A beautiful crisp morning in the tidal rivers outside of CPH.

"I like it here"

"Me too- it's a wonderful Plaice".

Forget worms, fish and spinners. Shrimp- it's the future.

"Cheese". Another suicidal Perch falls for the shrimp cocktail.

Nice fat Perch for Johnny.

Uncle Kim, our Perch mentor, lifts another average sized specimen from the icy waters.

My biggest of the day- an immaculate 2 and a half pounder.

Just showing off for the camera.

Scrapping over the shrimp bucket.

Greedy and a gob to match.

T'was a Perchfest indeed.

And they continued to feed ravenously until we could see our  floats no more. A lovely day by the water.

Downtown lights in pre-Christmas Copenhagen

Johnny with another shrimp-greedy Perch.

A nice one of 2 and a half pounds...

But superseded by another of 1.45kg, which by my calculations is well over 3lbs. Nice.

Yup, it was a nice one indeed.
